WICS Chair – Dr Richard Pugh

Dr Pugh is Clinical Lead for Critical Care at Glan Clwyd Hospital, North Wales, Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Cardiff University, and has been a Lead for the WICS Audit and Research Group since June 2013. He was re-elected to WICS Council for a second term in June 2016.

Dr Pugh is currently the Chair of WICS having taken over that role at the AGM in 2018. WICSchair@gmail.com

WICS Treasurer – Dr Ceri Brown  – Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Withybush Hospital.     First elected onto council in June 2014.  Re-elected onto council for a second 3 year term in June 2017. WICStreasurer@gmail.com

WICS Secretary Dr Chris Littler – Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Dr Littler has been a previous member of WICS council who stepped down at the end of a long and illustrious tenure several years ago. As of October 2015 he was “co-opted” onto council to fill the vacant secretarial role. He was then formally re-elected to council in June 2016 for a three year term. WICSsecretary@gmail.com

Dr Hywel Roberts – Welsh Intensive Care Society Ex- Chair.Dr Roberts qualified in medicine from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1996. He trained in General Medicine, Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine gaining a Dual CCT in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care in 2008. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Felow of the Faculty of Intensive Care and holder of the European Diploma in Intensive Care. He is currently employed as a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. He has interests in Quality Improvement and prediction of outcome following Critical Care and is fluent in both Welsh and English.

In his role as WITS chair, Dr Roberts served on WICS council as trainee representative from 2006-2007. He was co-opted onto WICS council in December 2009, subsequently being elected formally onto council for his first 3 year term in June 2010. During this term he served as Audit and Research Lead, founded the Welsh Intensive Care Society Audit and Research Group (WICSARG) and helped undertake several National surveys and audits of clinical practice. He was re-elected onto council for a second 3 year term in June 2013 and subsequently was appointed secretary of the Welsh Intensive Care Society in July 2014. He was elected Chair of the Welsh Intensive Care Society in April 2015, taking over from the previous incumbent (Dr Paul Morgan) following the AGM in June 2015. Due to his re-election into a council officer post, as per the constitution, he served  a further maximum 3 year term from June 2015 until June 2018 as Chair, and will then serve a further year on council as “Ex-offico”  chair before leaving WICS council in June 2019.
